Jelínková, Milena ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
The thesis deals with a compare of media image of Topolanek, Fischer and Necas government in periodical Tyden. I took two aims - first, to find out if any opinion inclination or political orientation is expressed in articles about Czech governments published in the periodical Tyden, second, to compare media image of all three governments among themselves and to trace potential differences. The theoretical section focuses on objectivity and bias, construction and representation. Substantial part of the theory is comprised of specific political communication and mediatisation together with trends in this field recognized in last decades. The empirical section is composed by quantitative analysis that compares representative articles and it is added by an content analysis of front pages of the periodical Tyden. Regardless of a fact, that the Jan Fischer government was very popular in public, the media picture of this particular government is rather negative comparing others. On the contrary there were found specific features showing that the Mirek Topolanek government was pictured more substantially. In generally the periodical Tyden uses negativity and stereotypes in articles about governments but in no case this is a predominant procedure of media products construct. The media picture of last three...
Media Picture of Volunteering: Mladá fronta DNES and Svět neziskovek in 2011
Tichotová - Fryčová, Linda ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (advisor) ; Navrátil, Jiří (referee)
The objective of this work is to survey the media picture of volunteering as provided to the public by the two Czech media - the most read quality paper in the Czech Republic Mladá fronta DNES and the professional electronic monthly Svět neziskovek. The survey consists of analysis of articles published in the respective media in 2011 for which the framing method (also called frame analysis) was used. With regard to the complexity of the phenomenon of volunteering, this work uses the theoretical concept of three paradigms (perspectives) as established by C. Rochester. These three paradigms (civil society paradigm, non-profit paradigm, volunteering as serious leisure) are identified in the articles, surveyed and mutually compared and subsequently the overall picture of volunteering as provided by the media is compiled. Quantitative evaluation of certain parameters related to volunteering within the articles (the field of voluntary activities, organizational context, age of volunteers and so forth) is also a part of this work.
Media image of fans culture in Gambrinus liga stadiums in season 2013/2014
Michovský, Václav ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Trunečka, Ondřej (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis aims to describe the media image of fans culture in Czech football stadiums in season 2013/2014. Many events happened in this particular season of Gambrinus League that then turned attention of media, the Czech Football Association and the general public to hooliganism. Especially, it was the disturbance during the half-time break of Baník Ostrava vs Sparta Prague match. After the match, the Czech Football Association decided to follow safety standards strictly and told the referees to interrupt matches when vulgar chants or offensive banners appear. However, this attitude of the Czech Football Association made football fans even more angry and tension in the stands escalated. This brought three other significant affairs, which this paper includes - the Prague derby between Sparta and Slavia, Teplice vs Sparta match and the Česká pošta Cup Final. The research is based on the observations from the following media: Mladá fronta DNES, the most read Czech broadsheet, and Sport - the only Czech daily newspaper focused solely on sport.

Suchan, František ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (advisor) ; Trunečka, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of the media image of a hockey player Jaromir Jagr during the past 20 years (1994-2014), when he was a significant figure in the Czech national hockey team and one of the most outstanding athletes of the country. Qualitative analysis of the texts subjected primarily from three major newspapers (Sport, Mladá Fronta DNES, Blesk) is supplemented by examples from books and television programs. The research sample is defined by periods in which Jaromir Jagr have had publicity mainly due to the events in his sports career. Analysed periods mostly connect to major tournaments of hockey national team or to change of Jagr's employer. With the help of specific examples of each of the time periods this thesis describes the evolution of reporting about Jagr in Czech mass media. In terms of media theory it classifies analyzed media exposure with identifying myths and elements of celebritization contained in the texts. They make the media picture of Jagr different during the time. The analysis shows that the media image of Jaromir Jagr has undergone significant changes during the period. Diploma thesis "A Reflection on the Question of Single European Currency Adoption in the Czech Press" deals with an analysis of media picture of the transition of the Czech Republic to the common currency euro in Czech media. With the help of the quantitative method of content analysis and the qualitative method of grounded theory, articles from the dailies Hospodářské noviny and Právo are being analysed. The sample includes articles from the beginning of May 2004, the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union, until the end of April 2011. Quantitative content analysis enables comparison of both of the periodicals by means of organization and general summary of quantifiable data from the articles. The method of grounded theory regards the examined collection as a whole and provides detailed analysis of the sample in order to identify hidden structures of the text. The focus of this work is articulation of the media image of the European common currency adoption in the Czech Republic, based on the partial outcomes of the research project. This text as an extension of the bachelor thesis "The Image of Euro Adoption in Czech Press" uses its outputs in addition to the revision of the research with a broadened sample, mapping seven years of development of the topic.
